Why is it primed for growth?
Following the relocation of the airport to Chek Lap Kok on Lantau Island in 1998, KTDA became one of the largest areas available for urban development in Hong Kong.
The zone has been planned to provide quality living for some 90,000 residents along with commercial complexes, open spaces for recreation and a cruise terminal. A new metro line, the Tuen Ma rapid transit line, opened in January 2020, directly linking Kai Tak to key parts of Hong Kong.
Local and Chinese Mainland developers have been actively acquiring residential sites since 2016 and there is robust demand from young professionals and family buyers as well as from long-time residents of Kowloon East.
My favourite bits:
The large open space at the tip of what was once the airport runway has great views across the harbour. Go at the end of the day to see the sun set over the famous skyline.
What will my money buy me?
Two- to three-bedroom flats between 45 and 75 sq m range on average from HK$9 million to HK$15 million.
