Describe the area
An attractive little suburb on Bengaluru’s eastern periphery, Whitefield’s skyline changed dramatically in the late 1990s as the IT boom turned it into a major destination for tech companies.
Why is the area up and coming?
Buzzing with numerous IT parks and towering apartment projects, the planned new Metro station has given a fillip to this already vibrant neighbourhood with the promise of enhanced connectivity. Improvement in transport infrastructure will help ease traffic congestion and drive residential property prices up.
My favourite bits
Not just a haven for young working professionals, Whitefield is also a lively retail and hospitality destination due to the numerous hotels, shopping malls, pubs and microbreweries which have made it a melting pot of cultures in Bengaluru.
Who’s buying?
Whitefield attracts domestic buyers living in rented accommodation in the vicinity who want to move closer to their workplaces as well as a diverse mix of buyers from other locations and expats living or working in Bengaluru’s IT sector.
What will my money buy me?
A three-bedroom 90 sq m apartment in Whitefield costs between Rs4.4 million and Rs6.8 million.
