Our weekly roundup of the economic and financial metrics you need to track, and what to look out for in the week ahead. This replaces our previous Daily Economic Dashboard.

In this edition:

  • ESG bond funds enjoy unprecedented appetite. Halfway through 2021, and inflows into ESG bond funds have almost reached 2020’s full-year level. There were 122 new global ESG bond funds announced in 2020, with a further 44 in Q1 2021.
  • Use of the UK’s furlough scheme is falling quickly. The proportion of UK businesses’ workforce on furlough has dropped from around 20% at the end of January to 7% in late May. 62% of the UK workforce are now back at their normal place of work.
  • Global air travel returns. Flight numbers have seen a steady rise this year, and in recent weeks have remained just a few percentage points below equivalent figures in 2019. This coincides with 23% of the global population now having received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. In the UK, that share has reached 65%.
