Kate Everett Allen, head of international residential research: “Since lockdown began here in the UK we’ve been having regular catch up calls between researchers and agents on the ground globally. One of the themes that emerged on these calls, was most of our teams were commenting on the increase in inquiries from expats. Interestingly it seemed to mirror the path of the pandemic, so enquiry levels from expats from Asia strengthened first, then it was Australasia, Europe, the Middle East before moving on to the UK and the US. I think given the restrictions that we’ve had in lockdown and the fact a large number of our corporate partners and partners were effectively closed while we were looking into this there was no means of surveying expats themselves so instead we asked our network of global prime agents for their views.”
