The nine main groups of tenants are identified in today’s new private rented sector (PRS) research report. The findings are based on Knight Frank’s annual Tenant Survey, carried out in conjunction with YouGov, of 10,000 people living in the PRS – making it the biggest survey of its kind  conducted in the UK.

As well as examining the tenant types, which range from iGens, under-25s who usually live in urban areas to Baby Boomers, who usually live in houses both in urban and less urban areas, the report also examines the likes and dislikes of these renters, and the amenities for which they are prepared to pay extra.

The report also shares the findings from a survey of 26 key operators and investors in the Build-to-Rent or Multihousing sector, indicating that total investment in the sector could rise as high as £70 billion by 2022.
