New Yorker Abraham Litwin-Logan arrived in London in 2019 to study law at UCL.

After spending a year in university halls he was ready to strike out alone, and his family – keen anglophiles – decided to invest in an apartment where Abraham could live, which could double as a pied-à-terre.

Abraham wanted to be able to walk to the UCL campus in Bloomsbury, and the newly-regenerated King’s Cross neighbourhood, full of cafés, bars, shops and restaurants, seemed like a perfect fit.

“It felt a little less stuffy than other London areas at a similar price point,” he says.

On a previous holiday, the Litwin-Logan family had stayed at the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London, and fallen for its iconic neo-gothic architecture.

When they discovered the building had 67 apartments – one for sale with Knight Frank – they jumped at the chance to own a slice of the Grade I listed masterpiece on the Euston Road. The sale was completed in May 2020, but due to the pandemic, Abraham wasn’t able to make use of his stylish student digs until September.

The previous owner had carried out a full refurbishment before relocating to New York. Abraham and his family liked the warm neutral colour scheme and negotiated to buy most of the furnishings, so they didn’t have to kit out the flat.

“Architecturally speaking the building is incredible,” says Abraham, whose split-level apartment has a double height dining area with original mullioned windows, a living room on the mezzanine level with monumental, exposed beams, and a bedroom set on the top level. “It’s one of a kind.”

He is also a fan of the local area: “The King’s Cross development is really terrific, they have definitely done a great job,” he says. “It feels really good to be living in a neighbourhood which is transforming.

“Abraham graduated in May last year and is now studying at Columbia Law School. With travel between the UK and the USA restricted until recently, he decided to rent out the apartment until the family can decide what they want to do with it long term. “I had a really good experience buying with Knight Frank, so renting with them seemed natural,” Abraham says. “They really get results.”
