_Georgia Jakstys: “Never dim your light – be bold, be proud.”
Georgia joined Knight Frank in 2023 as Sales Manager at the Dulwich office, selling core properties up to £2 million. She has been promoted to Associate and Senior Sales Manager in her time here.
Brixton and identity
Georgia grew up in Brixton and is of mixed heritage; her mother is of Jamaican descent, and her father is of Mauritian and English descent. They both grew up in Brixton. Growing up, she was conflicted about her identity as she felt she didn’t know what she was or what she was supposed to be. She didn’t know how to identify herself growing up as there weren’t many people of a similar background and heritage, including her parents.
However, she felt a connection to her family’s heritage in Brixton, getting a taste of where they are from, by finding the best plantain in London, music and community within a community which made her feel safe. The melting pot of Brixton became that link in identity that they all got to share.
From musical theatre to real estate
After graduating from the Brit school in musical theatre, Georgia got a job in retail at Zara and then a call centre, which she loved, and helped her be comfortable selling anything over the phone, from beer and wine to food delivery subscriptions. This was a tremendous foundational experience for her career in real estate. Georgia has been selling throughout her professional career, and the products have just gotten larger.
While she admits she fell into estate agency, she quickly found out that she was very good at it. She was promoted multiple times at a previous agency in her first 18 months in the industry, from a Sales Negotiator to Senior Sales Negotiator and then to Manager. She ended her time at that organisation as an associate director and at this point, Georgia decided to join Knight Frank.
She has been here for 13 months working in the Dulwich office, which has been breaking records – something she believes comes from great teammates and collaboration. Georgia has also just been awarded ‘Best Newcomer – London Sales’ and a recent promotion to Associate. Georgia feels that “just being human” and creating that connection with clients, it helps her understand their needs but also credits her performance background for making her feel comfortable pitching her services each and every day. She wants to stand out, and that confidence comes out every time you speak to her.
The journey is not over
When asked about her proudest achievement Georgia admits: “I can’t actually specify what I’m most proud of, and the reason why is that there is so much more I want to achieve.” She is proud of how far she has come but knows her journey is far from over, which speaks to her relentless work ethic. She gets this ambition and work ethic from her parents who created this mould for their children while her siblings inspire her to keep pushing to that next level.
World Cultural Day
With World Cultural Day in mind, Georgia believes authenticity is essential in getting the best out of people at work. She wants to be as authentically herself as possible, and this is what makes her so good at her job. If people feel comfortable in their environment, you will get the best out of them, and having a personal connection is a big part of that for Georgia. We are so much more than the jobs we do, and that should be celebrated as well.
