Charlton House Hotel & Spa has been sold to Singaporean real estate development company, KOP Limited through its subsidiary Kop Properties (UK).

Situated near Shepton Mallet in Somerset, the property sits on the edge of Somerset Mendips and is located between Bristol and Exeter. The hotel is near some of the UK’s top tourist attractions, including the world-renowned English Heritage site Stonehenge and the popular Longleat Safari Park.

Charlton House Hotel & Spa has been converted from a 17th-century country house and has a reputation for being one of the leading country house hotels in the region. This thriving hotel business generates a high percentage of repeat custom with income from the award-winning restaurant, bar, 28 contemporary guest bedrooms, weddings and events.

The Charlton House Hotel also features a Moroccan-themed spa with five treatment rooms, a hydro pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The hotel has a range of fitness facilities, including a comprehensive air-conditioned gym with free weights, resistance training and an outdoor tennis court.

The Bannatyne Group, owned by former Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne, originally purchased the property in 2010.

Matthew Smith, Partner, Hotel agency at Knight Frank, commented: “We are delighted to have concluded the sale of Charlton House Hotel & Spa to KOP Limited, which will allow the Singaporean group to broaden its operations in the hotel sector and marks the group’s re-entry into the UK market. This sale demonstrates the confidence in the UK hotel market, which we expect to continue throughout 2023.”
