_Publicis Media moves to Television Centre
Publicis Media will occupy 212,000 square feet across seven floors of the new office building 2 Television Centre with each agency brand – Starcom, Zenith, Digitas, Spark Foundry, Blue 449 and Performics – on separate floors with their own distinct brand personality, culture and secure space.
Importantly, each brand will have easy access to the shared services offered by the company’s expert practices and support functions.
Neighbours at the development include the BBC who have three working studios on the historic site as well as ITV Studios who broadcast Daytime TV from Television Centre, the headquarters of both The White Company and BBC Worldwide, residential apartments and the newly-opened Soho House club, White City House and its 45 bedroom hotel.
Sue Frogley, CEO Publicis Media UK, and Phil Georgiadis, Chairman Publics Media UK, are leading the project with the aim of completing the move by the second quarter of 2019.
David Camp, Chief Executive of Stanhope, said: ““We are delighted to welcome Publicis Media to Television Centre alongside the arrival of Soho House and iconic restaurant Bluebird and the broadcast of ITV Daytime shows and other flagship BBC programmes from the studios again.
“Together with the owners Mitsui and AIMCo, Stanhope has transformed Television Centre into a new media hub as part of a wider regeneration and transformation of White City which includes a new business district for tech, creative and life sciences companies at White City Place.”
Eiichiro Onozawa, Managing Director, Mitsui Fudosan said: “We are happy to announce that Publicis Media is moving to Television Centre, White City. The buzz that is being created by our occupiers, residents, visitors and the live television studios is cementing White City as a destination for world class businesses.
“A diverse mix of creative, tech, retail and life science companies have all chosen White City as their home from which to grow and foster innovation. Publicis Media will add to that exciting mix and we look forward to welcoming them.”
Sue Frogley, Chief Executive Office Publicis Media UK, said: “We will become a beacon for best practice in our sector as this location will allow us to nurture the most fertile and dynamic media agency environment.
“The space will provide our people and our clients with the expertise and agility that such a proposition provides by bringing together the brand and practice model in one location.
“We have considered this move long and hard and really believe that in these transformational times we need to make transformational decisions.”
CBRE acted for Publicis Media and Knight Frank and Cushman & Wakefield for Stanhope.
Television Centre
Stanhope, Mitsui and AIMCO are redeveloping the 14 acre site Television Centre - including 500,000 sq ft of offices, 950 new homes, Soho House, three state of the art BBC studios, the HQs of BBC Worldwide and The White Company.
The new office buildings at Television Centre are designed by Stirling Prize-winning practice AHMM and Duggan Morris. Television Centre's offices are finished to a Grade A standard and designed with modern occupiers in mind, with large bike stores with changing facilities and concierge facilities for employees, visitors and deliveries.
BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, completed their move to the site in March 2015. Their new headquarters at 1 Television Centre has over 1,200 people working in the statement building fronting Wood Lane.
Television Centre in total provides 280,000 sq ft of premium specification office accommodation on one side of the site’s famous forecourt, next to BBC Worldwide’s headquarters.
Nine floors of open, premium specification office accommodation averaging 35,000 sq ft are contained within a new facade of brick and expansive glazing.
A full-height atrium will fill the space with natural daylight, criss-crossed by diagonal walkways that connect each office floor, while at street level, cafés and restaurants spill out onto the landscaped forecourt, including the new Bluebird, Soho House, Patty&Bun and Homeslice pizza from Terry Wogan’s sons.
Wood Crescent is designed by architects Duggan Morris with 110,000 sq ft of office accommodation over nine open floors of typically 14,000 sq ft. The building will benefit from five terraces, views over the green space of Hammersmith Park and the rest of the iconic Television Centre site.
White City Place
Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo are the developers and owners of the 17 acres at the one million square foot business district at White City Place.
White City Place includes a group of three buildings in White City – WestWorks, MediaWorks and the Garden House - from architects Allies and Morrison, set around a central avenue with high quality retail spaces, restaurants and gardens.
Totalling 566,290 square feet of new office space, the buildings have been designed for modern life sciences, creative and tech businesses, including ITV Studios, YOOX Net-A-Porter, The Royal College of Art and Huckletree.
Three other buildings at White City Place - the Broadcast Centre, Energy Centre and Lighthouse building - totalling around 400,000 square feet, will continue to be occupied by the BBC with 3,000 BBC staff.
White City Place was the original home of the Franco-British Exhibition of 1908, which created a vast complex of white pavilions and pleasure parks in Wood Lane and which gave the area its name of 'White City'.
The site then provided the home for the 1908 Olympics stadium, the first Olympic Games to be held in the UK. Parts of the swimming pool were discovered when the foundations were laid. The site was later turned over to greyhound racing before the BBC acquired it in the mid-1980s.
Television Centre and White City Place are at the heart of an £8 billion 15-year regeneration of the wider White City area, which will form a new hub of activity, creativity and academia in west London. A thriving neighbourhood will see the arrival of new restaurants, 2,500 new homes, more than two million square feet of office space and 20,000 new jobs.
A new John Lewis opened in March 2018 in an expanded Westfield which will boast more than 420 stores, and there will be 30 acres of public open space. Imperial College is building a major new White City Campus bringing together world-class researchers, businesses and partners from academia to work, share ideas and turn cutting-edge research into benefits for society.
